If your inventory does have extra horses though, then the troops can use them as transport. You can equip yourself or a companion with mounts, but the same thing cannot be done to units unless horses are required for the upgrade of a unit. However, take care to buy horses and NOT mules to achieve this. This is quite an easy way to speed yourself up.
You can increase the map speed in the following two ways in Mount and Blade 2. Remember that increasing your overall speed and adapting your speed according to the terrain are two entirely different things, so they should not be confused with each other. Another thing that affects it is a player’s Culture choice. Each terrain has either a positive or negative impact on your speed. Now the first thing to keep in mind is that the terrain is an extremely important factor in where speed is concerned.
